The Jefferson Bible In 1804 Thomas Jefferson decided to study the gospels to see if he could distill the essence of Jesus’ teaching into a concise book that could be quickly read and easily understood. Using the 4 Gospels he produced a 91 page book that he called the Philosophy of Jesus. He commented about it saying: “A more beautiful or precious morsel of ethics I have never seen” and “It is a document in proof that I am a REAL CHRISTIAN, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus.” Join us as we take a brief look at the background to the book, Jefferson’s Religious views, some excerpts from his book and talk about its conclusions, validity and implications, not just in 1804, but even for us today!
